Ingrown Hair Remedies

Ingrown hairs… we’ve all experienced it. They are stubborn and not to mention painful! Not only that, it also ruins the smooth look you were aiming for when you shaved your legs, bikini line or even underarms. Ingrowns are caused by the hairs growing back into the skin rather than out of it. Here are three simple home remedies to get rid of them fast.

Aspirin + Honey Mix

This combination works wonders when it comes to calming the infection and reducing the inflammation. Honey is rich in antiseptic and antibacterial properties, and it also contains hydrating elements. Aspirin is also loaded with salicylic acid.

Treatment: Mix three crushed (uncoated) aspirin tablets with a teaspoon of honey and 1/2 – 1 teaspoon of water. Apply the mixture on affected areas. Allow it to work its magic for 10 minutes before washing off in lukewarm water.

Tea Tree Oil Soak

Tea tree oil is perfect for fighting acne due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Therefore, this soak is a great solution to reduce inflammation, open the pores and remove the ingrown hair.

Treatment: Combine 20 drops of tea tree oil with warm water, and using a washcloth, gently dab where needed. Leave it on for a couple minutes and repeat as necessary.

Coconut Oil + Sugar Scrub

Coconut oil contains anti-bacterial and antifungul properties plus hydrates the skin. On the other hand, sugar eliminates the dead skin cells and restricts the appearance of other ingrown hairs.

Treatment: Put one cup of sugar, half a cup of coconut oil and 10 drops of tea tree oil in a bowl and mix it all up. Then apply the mixture and gently massage in a circular motion. Do this for a good few minutes before washing off with tepid water.
